Ghost in the Shell

In 2029, Major Motoko Kusanagi of Public Security Section 9, a cyborg with nothing human left but her brain, hunts the Puppet Master, a criminal who hacks people's ghosts and drives them like puppets. The investigation turns up that the Puppet Master is not a person at all but a life form that came into being on its own in the sea of the net. To Motoko, who has never stopped asking whether the ghost inside her is real, it offers a merger.
