A bounty on syndicate capo Mao Yenrai pulls Spike back toward a past he has kept shut. The man who cut Mao down is Vicious, who once worked at Spike's back inside the same organisation. Dragged into a reckoning in a cathedral, Spike is trailed the whole way by the memory of a woman named Julia.
