Jim, a boy living at his family's seaside inn, is there when the old pirate Billy Bones dies and comes away with the treasure map Bones was hiding. He sails aboard the Hispaniola with Doctor Livesey and the squire, not knowing that the one-legged cook, Long John Silver, is the man leading the pirates hidden among the crew. When the mutiny breaks out on the island, Jim has to face, over and over, the man who has been kinder to him than anyone.
